Hong Kong and Macao permanent residents can win British Chevening Scholarships (29/10/2009)

British Consul-General Andrew Seaton is delighted to announce the 2010-2011 Chevening Scholarship Programme in the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions will be officially launched on 2 November 2009.

Permanent residents in Hong Kong and Macao can apply for fully-paid graduate scholarships to the UK's leading universities and other further education institutions.

"The Chevening Programme programme is committed to selecting and rewarding students and professionals with the greatest potential to become future leaders in their chosen fields. The Programme provides them an unparalleled opportunity – through studying and living in the UK – to develop and realise that potential. I encourage anyone with the ambition to consider furthering their education in the United Kingdom to apply now. I wish all students every success."

Mr Seaton also paid tribute to the support the scheme has received from Dr Li Ka-shing in the form of Hutchison Chevening Scholarships. "The partnership between the Chevening programme and Hutchison Whampoa has been an outstanding success. Hutchison Whampoa's very generous contribution has been a crucial factor in delivering the scheme in Hong Kong and Mainland China," Mr Seaton said. "It has provided a significant number of talented individuals with new opportunities for development, which will enable them to contribute so much more to Hong Kong and China in the future."
